This is Theatre in the Park's sixth year in bringing outdoor theatre to our community!
The Downtown St. Charles Partnership is pleased to welcome St. Charles Park District as new lead planning organization for this event in conjunction with the dedicated Theatre in the Park committee.
The Theatre in the Park Committee created the outdoor theatre concept five years ago in order to bring Pottawatomie Park’s unused, natural amphitheatre back to life. The amphitheatre, which faces Second Avenue just south of the baseball field, was built in the 1930’s and was used for inexpensive entertainment during the Depression.
For years it sat empty, storing St. Charles Park District supplies. Several St. Charles residents got involved by approaching the Park District and eventually creating Theatre in the Park. Viki Congleton, the 2006 Theatre in the Park Chairperson states, “We want to create a unique and memorable outdoor experience that brings people together through the magic of theatre while fostering the imagination of artist and audience alike.”
Mark your calendars to celebrate Theatre in the Park's - and the St. Charles Park District's - sixth season of bringing live, outdoor theatre to scenic the Pottawatomie Park Amphitheatre in St. Charles.
